What is Ayurved?

“Ayu” means life and “Veda” means knowledge. It is science of life. Ayurved offers holistic and natural approach to a healthy life.
It is 5000 year old science; taught by Lord Brahma to Daksha Prajapati , then from Daksha to Ashwinikumar and by them to Lord Indra. When people started suffering from various illnesses Acharya Bharadwaj learned it from Indra.
It is classified into eight main branches:
- Kayachikitsa (Internal Medicine)
- Kaumarbhritya (Pediatrics)
- Graha- Bhutavidya ( Psychiatry)
- Urdhwang -Shalakya Tantra (The Science of Ear ,Nose, Throat and Eye Diseases)
- Shalya Tantra (Surgery)
- Damshtra-Agadatantra (Toxicology)
- Jara - Rasayan (The Science of Rejuvenation)
- Vrishan - Vajikarana (The Science of Aphrodisiacs)
