Keywords: Shukra; Shukra -Parikshana; Shukravikriti; Semen-Analysis
Background: In purview of Ayurved Biology, Scholar has done biological assessment of Shukra in association of Sukravikrtikara- Hetus in Male-Infertility. W.H.O. Multi-centric studies of infertility in India revealed that 73% of men had no demonstrable cause of infertility.  Hence there is need to enlighten more risk factors, in the light of Ayurved biology.  Various Shukra Vikritis are mentioned in Ayurved classics and amongst all of them Shukra-Dushti, Shukra -Kshaya, and Shukra-Apravritti are commonly seen in today’s society.
Objectives: To execute biological assessment of Shukra by studying association of Sukravikrtikara-Hetus in Male-Infertility with reference to Shukra-Parikshan and semen analysis
Materials and Methods: Detailed review of literature has been done. Case-Control study of 60 male infertility patients and 30 fertile healthy individuals has been done on the basis of analysis of Hetus and Ayueved Shukra Pariksha e.g. to study Phenilata of Shukra, bubbles in semen were generated with aquarium bubbler for 30 seconds. If size of froth increases more than 1 cm and if froth remains for 5 mins, it was considered as Phenila type of Shukra Dushti. If volume of the semen was less than 1.5 ml it was considered as Kshina Shukra. If liquefaction time was less than 30 mins and sperm count was less than 20 million/ml., it was considered as Tanu Shukra.  Other Shukra Pariksha parameters and interpretation has been done on the basis of Ayurved biology.
Statistical test: Odds- ratio
Results &Discussion: Important Hetus (odds- ratio) were Chinta (9.50) & Bhaya (5.71) along with Katu (2.53) & Ruksha Ahara Sevana (2.47) were found associated with male infertility. All these Hetus develop Vata-Dushit-Shukra. This case-control study suggested possible association of Shukra Vikritikara Hetus mentioned in Ayurved texts with male infertility.
Conclusion: Changes in Shukra are better understood with such biophysical tests.
